The types of food that you eat affect the functions of your body. Note that there are what we call acid reflux foods and there are also the anti acid reflux foods. By eating the right type of food, you can control the acidity of your stomach.
What Not To Eat
According to studies, carbonated drinks, coffee and alcoholic beverages are some of the most common acid reflux food. On the other hand, hot and spicy foods, tomato based products, chocolates; milk and milk based products could also cause some severe acid reflux symptoms in many people. In fact, there are some people who have some really severe reaction to this acid reflux food that they end up spending hundreds of dollars in acid reflux medication.
Although there are some studies that would tell us that these types of food are not really harmful to our body, it is best to take caution when drinking carbonated drinks, coffee and alcoholic beverages. Note that different people have different reactions to food and that what may not be harmful for other could produce some severe reactions in others. If you notice that you stomach starts to reaction to something that you have eaten, try not to eat that kind of food again. Furthermore, to control acid reflux especially at night, make sure that you do eat your meals about 2 to 3 hours before bedtime to allow your stomach to digest your food well. Note that once you go to bed, your digestive system slows down causing the still undigested food to ferment and go sour. Once this happens, you will feel that familiar feeling of stomach acidity.

To help you prevent stomach acidity, you should eat plenty of those anti acid reflux food such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and non-fatty foods. Fresh fruits are vegetables are very beneficial to the body and can help promote the alkalinity of the digestive system. Since alkaline fights off acidity, you will have lesser episodes of acid reflux.
